From September 30, 2025, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) expanded the use of the Australian Immi App to ten more countries. This will allow thousands of applicants who have previously provided their fingerprint biometrics to access a faster, cheaper and more convenient way to complete their visa requirements.
The free mobile app allows eligible visa applicants to submit their passport details and facial biometrics directly from their smartphones. This means applicants no longer need to travel to an Australian Biometric Collection Centre (ABCC) every time they apply for a new visa.
Available locations
Already in use in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea and by third-country nationals in New Zealand, the app is now also available in:
- Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China)
- Malaysia
- Philippines
- Singapore
- Solomon Islands
- South Africa
- South Korea
- Thailand
- Tuvalu
- Vanuatu.
According to DHA, nearly 30,000 people have used the app since its launch in September 2024, and over half of all users submitted their details within two days of receiving their invite.
Benefits
Using the app:
- saves time by allowing applicants to submit their facial image after lodging their visa application;
- cuts costs by removing travel or appointment fees for biometric collection;
- can help reduce overall visa processing times since it allows early submission of biometrics.
The Australian Immi App will continue to expand to more countries, with full global rollout of the program scheduled for completion in early 2026.
