Australia Changes To Subclass 482 Visa Framework

Australia’s current Subclass 482 visa program will be moving to a new system likely by the end of 2024 which will have three newly introduced pathways to replace the current short and medium/long term streams.

These will be:

  • Specialist Skills pathway (salary over A$135,000)
  • Core Skills pathway
  • Skills in Demand pathway (salary under A$70,000).

In preparation for this, Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) have opened a consultation process relating to eligible occupations in the Core Skills pathway which covers roles with a salary between $70,000 and $135,000.

JSA have released a draft list of occupations which will be included and are engaging in surveys, submissions, bilateral meetings and qualitative analysis until May 10, 2024.

No other information has been released about how the occupation lists for each pathway will be addressed in the visa regulations but we will of course monitor closely and provide any updates as they come to hand.
