U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the opening of a new Asylum Office in San Antonio, Texas, aimed at expanding interview capacity for affirmative asylum applications.
Effective May 28, 2026, applicants residing within the jurisdiction of the Houston Asylum Office may now be scheduled for interviews at either the Houston or the newly established San Antonio office.
Increased Capacity for Asylum Interviews
The addition of the San Antonio location is intended to:
- Enhance USCIS capacity to schedule and conduct asylum interviews
- Reduce processing bottlenecks in the Houston jurisdiction
