USCIS Opens New Asylum Office in Charlotte, North Carolina

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the opening of a new asylum office in Charlotte, North Carolina, expanding its asylum operations and providing a dedicated location for individuals seeking affirmative asylum protection in the Carolinas.

Effective Date

Beginning October 13, 2026, asylum applicants residing in North Carolina and South Carolina will fall under the jurisdiction of the new Charlotte Asylum Office for affirmative asylum processing.

Applicants whose cases are assigned to the Charlotte office may be scheduled for interviews at this location and should carefully review any interview notices received from USCIS to confirm the correct interview location.
