USCIS has announced its annual inflation adjustment to immigration fees created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1). The adjustments are based on the change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) between July 2025 and July 2026 and will apply to certain immigration benefit requests filed during Fiscal Year 2027.
According to USCIS, the CPI-U increased by approximately 3.36% during the relevant period, triggering the annual fee adjustments required by statute.
Effective Date
The notice is scheduled for publication in the Federal Register on October 1, 2026.
The revised fees will become effective 15 days after publication, and any filing submitted on or after the effective date without the correct fee will be rejected.

Why the Changes Are Being Made
H.R. 1 requires DHS to adjust certain immigration fees annually using CPI-U inflation data. Most fees are rounded down to the next lowest multiple of $10, while some fees, such as the Annual Pending Asylum Application Fee, are rounded down to the nearest dollar.
USCIS states that these adjustments are intended to ensure that H.R. 1 fees keep pace with inflation while continuing to support the administration of immigration benefit programs.
