On March 19, Minister of State for Immigration, Carolina Nokes released a statement that Croatian nationals will no longer be subject to “transitional restrictions” to the UK Labor Market after June 30, 2018. The restrictions derived from a disproportionate, unreciprocated flow of migrant workers from Croatia, resulting in employment restrictions implemented by member states who were able to demonstrate a “serious labour market disturbance” within their region. Austria, Slovenia, and the Netherlands are the last remaining countries which continue to impose these restrictions. In her statement, Nokes emphasized the need to reconsider the necessity of these labor constraints before July.
