On August 21, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in Belarus urged Americans to leave the country immediately due to increased Russian troops in Belarus and the potential spillover from the war in Ukraine. The Embassy also recommended that all Americans avoid traveling to Belarus in an advisory. European Union countries are considering closing border crossings between their countries and Belarus, and the Embassy recommends Americans leave through open border crossings or by plane.
