The Netherlands Requires Testing for Third-Country Travelers

The Government of the Netherlands announced new entry rules for third-country nationals to go into effect on December 22.

Key Changes
  • Travelers from third countries must present a pre-departure COVID-19 test, regardless of their vaccination status. PCR testing should occur within 48 hours of departure, and antigen testing should be within 24 hours. Exemptions apply to children 12 years old and younger.
  • Testing is required regardless of vaccination or recovery status.
  • Travelers from very high-risk regions must quarantine for ten days, with the option to test out of quarantine on day 5.

Very High-Risk Countries include Afghanistan, Anguilla, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Georgia, Haiti, Jordan, Mauritius, Montenegro, Serbia, Somalia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela.

Virus Variant Countries include Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Travelers from a virus variant country who test positive must quarantine for ten days.
