On December 6, 2019, the Switzerland Federal Council adopted the Free Movement of Persons Agreement (FZA). This agreement allows Swiss Nationals residing in the United Kingdom and British nationals in Switzerland to retain their current rights once Brexit is finalized. This agreement has now been submitted to Parliament for approval. If approved, the agreement would be enforced at the end of the transition period between the EU and the United Kingdom (currently on January 1, 2021). This measure would protect the free movement between Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the coordination of social security schemes, and the mutual recognition of professional qualifications. The rights would be granted for life.
