South Korea Announces New Nomad Visa

South Korea’s Ministry of Justice announced on December 29, a new Nomad Digital Visa, the “Workcation Visa,” allowing foreign nationals who meet certain criteria to stay in the country for a period of two years and work remotely.

The Workcation Visa is available from January 1, 2024. The new visa is in an indefinite pilot program.

Eligibility
  • To be eligible, foreign nationals must have a sufficient minimum income, no criminal record, and at least one year of work experience in their applicable field.
  • Eligible foreign nationals and their family members/dependents may reside and telework in South Korea for their employer for up to two years.
Application Process

The digital nomad visa should be applied for at a Korean consulate overseas, but a foreigner who is currently in Korea on a tourist visa can apply at the immigration office in Korea. However, it is expected to take time as the required documents must be sent from the home country.
