Slovenia Eases Residency Process for Non-EU Nationals

The Slovenian government published changes to the Aliens Act to facilitate the resident permit process for non-EU nationals.

Key Changes
  • Family members who want to join third-country nationals living in Slovenia must show proof of language knowledge at an entry-level (A1).
  • From October 28, 2023, to November 1, 2024, a certificate of participation in the Slovenian language program is needed.
    From November 1, 2024, proof of Slovenian language knowledge at the required level will be required.
  • The government will offer free Slovenian language and introduction Slovenian society courses for all foreign nationals.
