Singapore Announces Changes to Minimum Salary Requirements for EP Applicants

Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has announced a change in minimum salary requirements for Employment Pass (EP) applications exempt from advertising on the MOM Jobs Bank.  Effective July 1, 2018, all EP applications filed with a fixed monthly salary of less than $15,000 SGD will require advertising. The company must advertise the role for 14 calendar days on the MOM Jobs Bank before lodging an EP application.

This is an increase from the previous monthly salary exemption of $12,000 SGD.  The increased salary exemption will also apply to new EP applications filed when there is a change in employer (including transfers to related Singapore entities).

Companies need to factor in this additional 2 weeks advertising period and review of applicants to the overall EP processing time. Currently, EP applications are generally approved within 3 weeks from date of filing.
