The United States Department of Justice, through Operation Janus, has begun to review and rescind the United States citizenship status for individuals found to have engaged in immigration fraud. The program was established during the Obama Administration and has expanded under the current administration. Though rare, the risks associated with the initiative has caused some foreign nationals who have been subject to clerical and even typographical errors to have citizen status revoked.
