The Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration has published an updated list of occupations that are eligible for simplified Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) processing.
The list, which this year has been reduced from 76 to 60 occupations, is updated annually and is effective from February 24, 2026 to February 23, 2027. Applications received during the transitional period of 30 days, from February 24, 2026 to March 26, 2026 inclusive, may be considered on the basis of the 2025 List of Professions Eligible for Simplified Processing if the profession covered by the application does not appear on the current list.
The simplified process enables employers to apply for an LMIA to fill selected positions without having to include proof of recruitment efforts.
