Last week President Trump addressed the country in an Oval Office Address. Although a national emergency has not yet been declared, President Trump stated that there is “a growing humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border.” He mentioned the illegal drug trade, an increase in unaccompanied migrant children, and reiterated that a border wall is necessary to protect U.S. families and our nation as a matter of national security. Currently, President Trump requests $5.7 billion from Congress to build the concrete wall.
