Portugal Creates New Immigration Agency

The government of Portugal announced it would create a new agency, the Agency for Minorities, Migration and Asylum (APMMA), replacing the  Immigration and Border Service (SEF). APMMA will include the High Commission for Migration (ACM).

Expected to launch within six months, APMMA will address foreign national admission procedures, reception, and integration, becoming Portugal’s only agency responsible for migrant integration. The APMMA will also be responsible for and coordinate with the EU on migration and asylum.
