Poland | New Law Permits Ukrainians to Apply for Residence Permit

The Polish government has announced a new law for Ukrainian foreign nationals and their family members who entered Poland due to the war in Ukraine. They will be able to submit residence permit applications as of April 1, 2023. The grounds for their application will be work. The Act confirms that all the applications submitted before April 1, 2023, shall be null and void. It is recommended that Ukrainian foreign nationals and their family members apply together under the same process. The residence permit application should be submitted before August 24, 2023.

Ukrainian foreign nationals’ right to work is secured on different grounds, so submitting a residence permit application does not affect their right to work. However, to continue legal employment in Poland, Ukrainian foreign nationals must have a valid right to stay or submit a residence permit application on time.
