The Open Balkan system developed by Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia, now allows citizens of these countries to live and work in either of the other countries without a separate residence or work permit.
- To apply, qualifying individuals need to first obtain an Open Balkan ID number through an online government portal.
- Then they can request a permit for free access to the labour market in the required country, valid for two years.
- This allows the holder repeated entry and work rights within the participating country.
