On Friday, September 17, New Zealand extended its quarantine-free travel suspension with Australia for an additional 8 weeks. The suspension on July 23 pushed pause on the travel bubble the two countries previously enjoyed.
The suspension was due to end on Friday, September 24, and will now be reevaluated in mid-November.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has said that the country is within sight of eliminating Delta, and has plans to reopen its borders in phases beginning early 2022.
