NPRM Would Allow Third Parties to Attend Certain U.S. Citizen Services Appointments

The State Department published a proposed new rule that would allow interpreters, attorneys, and other third parties to attend certain U.S. citizen service appointments, including to support U.S. passport applications domestically or overseas; related to the request for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad or a Certificate of Loss of Nationality of the United States; and for certain other services that American Citizens Services units offer at consulates or U.S. embassies overseas.
