Beginning August 3, USCIS will furlough employees for up to 90 days in an effort to address a budget shortfall. The furloughs will likely cause delays and longer wait times for applications and filings.
Additionally, the Ombudsman Office, whose “key statutory function is assisting individuals and employers who are experiencing difficulties in the processing of immigration benefits and services,” also anticipates delays. The Ombudsman’s Office will continue to work with the public and submit requests for case assistance to USCIS.
