On October 7, 2019, New Zealand implemented significant changes to the Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa Program. For all new applications received after this date, the minimum salary needed for the Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa will increase from NZD $55,000 to NZD $79,560 per year, reflecting increases in median income across the country. Additionally, applicants will no longer be able to simultaneously apply for Permanent Resident Visas as they have in the past. Previously, applicants for the Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa who earned over NZD $90,000 per year could also apply for a Permanent Resident Visa at the same time, but this will no longer be the case under the changes. Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa Holders can still apply for permanent residence after 24 months of employment, however. Lastly, employers will now be accredited for a period of 24 months only, before having to reapply for their employees to use this program.
