The TalentCorp agency of the Ministry of Human Resources has issued a reminder to employers of foreign nationals to complete their onboarding on MyNext, TalentCorp’s internship placement and 1:3 Internship Policy monitoring platform and take the necessary steps to fulfill their internship requirements.
As the 1:3 Internship Policy is now in its full implementation phase, companies should ensure that their MyNext registration, designated Internship HR Person-in-Charge (PIC), and relevant internship information are complete and up to date.
Under the policy, companies with approved expatriate employment passes are required to provide internship placement based on specific approved ratios (1:3 for EP1, 1:2 for EP2, 1:1 for EP3).
Companies may submit an appeal for internship placement of 2% of the company’s total workforce, subject to approval.
Exceptions may be made to the policy, subject to appeal and approval, for the following categories:
- New companies operating in Malaysia for less than two years;
- Companies with Representative Office / Regional Office (RE/RO) status;
- Companies granted government tax exemptions for critical sectors such as digital, energy, and other approved sectors.
Interns must complete a minimum of 10 weeks of structured, quality and paid internship endorsed by the MySIP program, with minimum pay of RM500 monthly or more according to level of study.
