Malaysia Introduces New Process for Supporting Applications

For ESD Registered Companies, the Malaysian Immigration Authorities announced on June 27, 2024, that effective July 1, 2024, the following applications will have to be submitted online via the ESD portal:

  1. Transfer Endorsement (TE)
  2. Take Up Balance of approval duration (TUB)
  3. Shortening of Pass
  4. Cancellation of Pass
  5. Permission to Study
  6. Permission to Work at Second Location

The processing time is 3 working days, excluding an additional 3 – 5 working days for Pass delivery via local Postal Service.

As the new features online are only available from July 1, 2024, onwards, the actual process steps and exact documents required have not yet been shared. The announcement indicates that the new process will take longer than the current approach and pass holders should plan ahead for the new timelines.
