Malaysia Introduces New MDEC i-KAD Delivery Method

The Expats Service Centre of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced that, effective October 15, 2026, i-KADs will no longer be available for collection at the Expats Service Centre counter. This is in line with the implementation of a new i-KAD delivery method.

Under the new arrangement:

  • i-KADs will be delivered directly to companies; and
  • companies may expect to receive the i-KAD within ten working days from the date the ePASS is issued.

Further details on the new delivery process will be communicated separately.

In addition, MDEC has reminded companies to ensure that the exit status of their expatriates is accurately updated in the eXpats System.

This requirement applies to expatriates who:

  • Hold an expired Employment Pass (EP); and
  • Do not have an exit record or have not updated/shortened their pass validity with the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM).

Companies are advised to review and update the relevant records through the Exit Clearance module in the eXpats System. Failure to do so may affect the company’s ability to submit and process future applications through the eXpats System.

Finally, MDEC has reminded companies to ensure that any request to cancel a pass is completed by submitting the holder’s original passport.
