China’s Exit-Entry Administration announced that effective May 8, 2023, the validity period of the Home Return Permit certificate will be from January 1, 2020, to December 30, 2023. According to the announcement, all preparations for policy implementation have been completed.

- The Home Return Permit is an entry and exit document for Hong Kong and Macao residents to travel to and from Mainland China. It is also an important identity certificate for travel, residence, and life in Mainland China.
- The Exit-Entry Administration, in conjunction with the various transportation agencies, has taken steps to adjust for the validity extension.
