Judge Temporarily Blocks Trump From Terminating CHNV Parole

On April 14, 2025, Judge Indira Talwani of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts temporarily blocked the Trump administration from terminating protections for around 532,000 immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who were admitted to the country through a Biden-era humanitarian parole program. Judge Talwani found that the mass parole termination could not happen without each case being reviewed individually.

A DHS spokesperson said, “While this ruling delays justice and undermines the integrity of our immigration system, Secretary [Kristi] Noem will use every legal option at the Department’s disposal to end this chaos, prioritizing the safety of Americans.” The ruling is a legal setback for the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts.
