Japan Issues eVisas for Indian Tourists

Indian nationals visiting Japan for tourism will no longer need to obtain a physical visa sticker on their passport from April 1. Through the Japanese eVisa program, travelers can apply for visas electronically through Japan Visa Application Centers operated by VFS Global.

Key Information
  • The visa is a single-entry visa specific to tourism purposes.
  • The visa is valid for a stay of up to 90 days.
  • The eVisa is available for Indian citizens and foreign nationals residing in India.

Travelers with an eVisa will present a “visa issuance notice” on their smartphone upon arrival at the airport. Other formats, including a PDF, screenshot, photo, or printed copy will be rejected.
