Japan to Exempt Qatari Citizens from Short-Stay Visa Requirements

The Consular Affairs Department at the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Japanese authorities are due to activate the system of Japanese visa exemption for Qatari citizens in Qatar effective August 21, 2023.

Under the system, Qatari citizens can register their passports at the Embassy of Japan in Doha to obtain a Visa Waiver Registration stamp, enabling them to enter Japan for a short-term stay of up to 30 days. For stays of more than 30 days, a visa is required.

The Visa Waiver Registration stamp is valid for three years for multiple entries for short stays. Further details of the visa waiver application requirements are published here.
