Israel | Rise in Entry Denials

Israeli border control officials denied entry to 19,000 foreign nationals in 2018. According to the border control, the reasons for entry denials varies but is often due to suspicion that the purpose of entry is not in accordance with the visa that was requested, particularly in regards to employment categories. According to border control internal regulations, once the foreign national is denied entry they are immediately returned to their home country. If there are not any flights available, the foreign national will remain in the airport detention center.
