Key Updates
- Current Processing Time:
- 3–4 weeks to process renewal applications.
- Additional 2 weeks for delivery of the new IRP card via post.
- Travel Advisory:
- An in-date IRP card may be required for re-entry into Ireland.
- Non-EEA nationals planning to travel during the Christmas holiday period are strongly advised to apply for renewal no later than October 31, 2025.
- Online Application Required:
- Renewals must be submitted via the ISD online portal for residents of Dublin and surrounding counties.
- No Guarantee for Late Applications:
- The Immigration Office cannot guarantee that applications submitted after October 31 will be processed in time for holiday travel, although efforts will be made to expedite them.
- Validity Period Reminder:
- The renewal validity will be based on the original expiry date, regardless of when the application is submitted or processed.
