The Government of Ireland launched a new immigration scheme that would allow undocumented migrants to obtain official permission to live in the country. There are an estimated 17,000 undocumented migrants living in Ireland, of whom 3,000 are minor children.
Key Highlights
- People who have lived in Ireland for the last four years may apply for permanent residence.
- Parents with minor children are eligible to become Irish permanent residents if they have lived in the country for the last three years. Parents with children who are 18 – 23 years old can include their spouse and children in their application.
- The application is open from January 31 to July 31, 2022.
Applicants who are successful will be able to enter the labor market and begin the process of obtaining Irish citizenship.
