Ireland has announced another automatic extension of Irish Residence Permits (IRP) until January 15, 2022. The extension comes as the Irish authorities compensate for delays in the processing of IRP applications. The Department of Justice says it is the final extension and it applies to people with permissions extended under previous notices, and for permissions due to expire between September 21 and January 15, 2022.
Key Highlights
- Regardless of the extension, IRP cardholders are still expected to retain up-to-date permissions using the new online system for renewals.
- All employees must renew their IRP cards before the expiration via the online system.
- The application for renewals can be filed anytime within the 30 day period before the expiration of the applicant’s current IRP Card.
- Anyone holding an expired IRP card should refrain from leaving the country until a decision is made on their application.
