India’s government has announced plans to relax the travel restrictions for foreign nationals that were put into effect in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Key Changes
- From October 15, 2021: For the purposes of group tourism, foreign nationals will be permitted to enter India, on tourist visas (when traveling on chartered flights).
- From November 15, 2021: All individual foreign tourists are to be permitted to enter India.
To enter India on a tourist visa, whether it is consular processed or is an e-tourist visa, each individual must apply for a new tourist visa and the visa should have been issued on or after October 6, 2021. Tourist visas issued before October 6, 2021, will not be valid for travel. It is expected that the Indian consular posts are likely to grant tourist visas for single entry with a validity of 30 days.
