The government of India has announced two new visa categories for international students, the e-student visa and the e-student-x visa.
Key Information
- Foreign nationals must be admitted to recognized institutions offering undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, or other formal programs.
- The e-student visa is for eligible foreign students registered on the ‘Study in India’ (SII) portal.
- The e-student-x visa is for dependents of e-student visa holders.
- The visas are valid for up to five years with extensions possible.
Both visas require applicants to apply through the indianvisaonline.gov.in/platform. All applicants must register on the SII portal.
