The Government of India has extended the validity of OCI cards by one year to December 31, 2022. The extension is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
What to Expect
- OCI cardholders must get the OCI card re-issued only when a new passport is issued after completing 20 years of age.
- OCI cardholders must upload a copy of the new passport and a recent photo each time a new passport is issued up to 20 years of age and once after 50 years of age.
- A foreign spouse of an Indian Citizen or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI cardholder must upload a copy of the new passport and a recent photo each time a new passport is issued, along with supporting documents.
- An OCI cardholder traveling with an OCI card that shows the old passport number is not required to carry the old passport. However, they must carry a new (current) passport.
