Immigration Nerds Talk About LGBTQ-Related Asylum Cases

In this week’s Immigration Nerds podcast, we talk to Ari Shaw, Director of International Programs of the Williams Institute, and Ingrid Eagly, Professor of Law at UCLA Law.

The Williams Institute conducts independent research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. In March 2021, Shaw and Eagly and their team completed a comprehensive research paper titled “LGBT Asylum Cases in the US” based on data from LGBTQ-related asylum cases, including the types of persecutions experienced worldwide. Their paper provides recommendations to improve US policy and asylum tracking systems.
