Following a landmark ruling on September 18th, Hong Kong will recognize same-sex marriages performed overseas for purposes of dependent visas. While same-sex marriages are not performed in the special administrative region, Hong Kong did decriminalize homosexuality in 1991. The policy change is expected to further promote the territory as a destination for global talent.
