DHS Pauses Processing for Select Green Card Applications

According to reports first made by CBS News, the Trump administration has made the operational decision to pause green card application processing for some refugees and asylees.  This decision is a part of a more extensive effort by the Trump administration to increase immigration vetting and scrutiny.

What to Expect
  • The directive from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) would impact refugees already approved to come to the United States, as well as those who were granted asylum after petitioning for the protection in immigration court.
  • DHS said “to better identify fraud, public safety or national security concerns, USCIS is placing a temporary pause on finalizing certain Adjustment of Status applications pending the completion of additional screening and vetting.”
