Ireland | Changes Minimum Salary Thresholds for CSEP and Updates for Skills Shortage List

On July 9, 2019, the Irish Ministry for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation issued the Employment Permits (Amendment)(No. 2) Regulations 2019 which modified work permit regulations. Beginning January 1, 2020, the minimum salary threshold for Critical Skills Employment Permits (CSEP) will increase from 30,000 EUR to 32,000 EUR for Highly Skilled eligible occupations, and from 60,000 EUR to 64,000 EUR for all other eligible occupations. The same regulation also included updates to the Skills Shortage List that went into immediate effect. Engineering Professionals, ICT Professions, and Specialized International Sales and Marketing Experts remain on the shortage list. This change comes as a response to the Irish government’s 2018 Review of Economic Migration Policy which recommended incremental changes to the employment permit process to more closely align with the current Irish Labor Market.
