Germany Lowers EU Blue Card Salary Requirements for 2022

The Government of Germany announced that from January 1, 2022, the minimum annual gross salary requirement for a German EU Blue Card has dropped by 0.7 percent.

Key Changes

To qualify for the regular Blue Card EU, a gross annual salary of at least € 56,400.00 (as of 2022) is required. For the first time, it is less than the previous year.

For the shortage occupation category Blue Card, a gross annual salary of at least € 43,992.00 (as of 2022) is required for employees in the fields of mathematics, IT, natural sciences, engineering, and human medicine.

All other qualifying conditions for the Blue Card remain unchanged.
