EIG COVID-19 Update | October 26, 2020

With our mission to uncomplicate the complicated, we’ve always thought of our work in immigration as people-first. Our goal is for these updates to make sense of the changes happening across the world. Please share these updates with your colleagues who may find this information helpful, too.

International Updates

Italy | The government has introduced new restrictions in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Public gathering places — restaurants, bars, theaters, and others — will have to close by 6 PM, and the ban on conferences and fans in stadiums has been reinstated. These rules will be in place until at least November 24.
Case Update: 21,273 confirmed cases. Last updated: 2020/10/26 5:00 PM CEST

Spain | The government has issued a state of alarm until at least November 9. The main restriction is an overnight curfew for all non-essential outings from 11 PM to 6 AM.
Case Update: 19,851 confirmed cases. Last updated: 2020/10/26 5:00 PM CEST

Following the two rule changes from DOL and DHS that will significantly reshape the H-1B specialty occupation visa program, more than ten lawsuits have been filed against the two agencies. In this week’s Immigration Nerds podcast, we synthesize the Purdue Vs. Scalia lawsuit that challenges the new DOL wage requirements introduced earlier this month.
