Domestic H-1B Visa Renewal Pilot Clears White House

The State Department pilot program allowing a limited number of H-1B workers to renew their visas domestically cleared the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs review on Friday, December 15.

The pilot will be available to 20,000 participants initially when it launches in January.

The full details of the pilot eligibility and operation logistics will be released when the notice is officially published in the Federal Register.

Currently, H-1B specialty occupation visa holders must travel abroad to renew their visas. Domestic renewal would mitigate the delays visa holders experience waiting for appointments or due to travel issues.
