The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a Federal Register notice designating Lebanon for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months.
- Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced TPS for Lebanon on October 17, and the Federal Register notice provides instructions on registering for TPS under the designation.
- Applicants must submit Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, and the initial registration period runs from November 27, 2024, through May 27, 2026.
- The TPS designation will allow around 11,000 Lebanese nationals to stay in the U.S. and be able to apply for TPS-related Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) and travel authorization.
