On Monday, July 11, the Department of Homeland Security announced the extension of Temporary Protected Status, TPS, for Venezuela for 18 months. The extension will go into effect from September 10, 2022, through March 10, 2024.
What to Expect
- DHS will publish a Federal Register notice outlining the re-registration process and how to apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD).
- USCIS continues to process pending applications. Applicants with a pending Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, or I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, do not need to refile.
- Pending applications filed during the initial designation that USCIS approves will be granted TPS through March 10, 2024.
