Denmark Collective Agreement Scheme Starts in 2027

The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) has announced that the Collective Agreement Scheme will take effect on January 1, 2027.

The scheme allows employers to hire foreign employees at a lower minimum salary if the employment is covered by a collective agreement.

To be granted a permit under the scheme, the foreign national must be offered a position with a yearly minimum salary of DKK 322,000 (2026 level); the position in which the foreign national is employed must be covered by a collective agreement; and the foreign national must be a citizen of one of 16 countries.

Companies must be certified before they can hire foreign employees, and before the employee can apply for a residence and work permit at SIRI.

SIRI expects that companies will be able to submit an application for certification at the beginning of December 2026, and applications will be processed from January 1, 2027 as the scheme comes into effect.

New application pages to apply for certification as well as residence and work permits will be launched on SIRI’s website.
