Following a recent visa free policy for five South American countries, on May 28, 2025, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced the inclusion of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia in its visa waiver program.
On a trial basis, from June 9, 2025 to June 8, 2026, ordinary passport holders from these four countries are exempt from requiring a visa to enter China for stays of up to 30 days for business, tourism, visiting family or friends, exchange or transit.
The other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states (Qatar and the United Arab Emirates) have had a mutual visa exemption with China since 2018.
