China Lifts Group Travel Bans for 78 More Countries

The government of China lifted its ban on group travel that has been in place for 78 countries for more than three years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The end of the this travel ban is in immediate effect from Thursday, August 10, 2023.

  • In January 2023, the government resumed permitting group tours to 20 countries, including Singapore and Thailand.
  • In March 2023, the government added an additional 40 countries, including France, Italy, and Spain.
  • The August 2023 group of 78 countries includes Japan and the United States.

Canada and Saudi Arabia are the only G20 countries not included.
