Canada’s ‘Phase 2’ Occupations Now Available in Recognized Employer Pilot

Effective immediately, applications are accepted for positions on Service Canada’s Phase 2 Recognized Employer Pilot (REP) occupations list. The Phase 2 occupations have been determined to be in-demand and to have an insufficient domestic labour supply.

The Recognized Employer Pilot is a three-year pilot project with two phases. Starting September 12, 2023, applications were accepted for positions on the Phase 1 REP occupations list. Applications for Phase 2 opened in January 2024.

The REP offers a streamlined approach for employers who:

  • regularly access the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) to fill positions for in-demand fields from the REP occupations list, and
  • meet the highest standards for working and living conditions and worker protection

Recognized employers can benefit from validity periods of up to 36 months for Labour Market impact Assessment (LMIA) applications that receive a positive decision. They can also access a simplified LMIA application when hiring additional workers.
