Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that it is updating the temporary measures for Sudanese nationals and the temporary measures for Haitian nationals who are in Canada and can’t return home at this time. The existing measures are set to expire on October 27, 2026.
IRCC is extending these measures in a targeted way. Eligible people who hold a valid work permit issued under the previous temporary measures can apply to extend their permit, with standard processing fees. These extended measures will expire on December 30, 2027.
Those who wish to extend their visitor status or study permit may apply through IRCC’s existing channels.
